Three signs,one answer.
Three things separate a house on a pit from one on the network.

Does the channel continue
A network chamber has a channel entering one wall and leaving the other. A pit just has an inlet.

A level sitting in the base
The network carries waste away, so the base holds no level. A pit's level rises with use.

Whether a tanker ever came
A house with no tanker history is usually on the network. Regular tanker visits mean a pit, the quickest sign.
The actual difference
Two systems,not one.
A Kuwait house drains one of two ways: to the sewer, or into a cesspit that holds the waste until a tanker empties it. The difference shows only when the drain stops.
Lift the round chamber cover and check the base: a channel in and out means the network, a standing level means a pit. History is the fastest sign, tanker or not.
On a pit
If you are on a pit.
On a pit, everything leaving the house stays inside the plot. Grease, wipes and hair settle in the same hole and shorten the gap between emptyings. Watch the level yourself, not the smell.
Here, an overflow is usually not a blockage: a full pit leaves the house line nowhere to discharge, so water returns through the lowest opening. Clear that line first and it just comes back.
On the network
And if you are on it.
On the network nothing fills on your side, since waste moves on. A backup means a blockage, in the internal line or past the chamber, deciding where the work starts.
The Ministry of Public Works does work on that network. Al-Jarida reported the ministry saying it had installed devices measuring the flow and the quality of sewage on household sewage networks, so what leaves your house is measured.
In Al-Seyassah, the ministry's official spokesman Eng. Ahmad Al-Saleh asked that construction debris and tree cuttings not be left where water washes them into drainage outlets, because that reduces the efficiency of the network.
